Urban students fare better in HSC exam
The Higher Secondary (HSC) Examination results declared recently show that students from urban areas have fared far better than rural students. About 89 per cent of the total number of students, who scored more than 1,100 upon 1,200 marks, are from urban Tamil Nadu.

11 toppers in medical entrance exam
Eleven students have emerged toppers in the medical stream of the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination 2005 (TNPCEE 2005), the results of which were published here on Thursday by Anna University. Chennai student G. Srinivasa Prasad topped the engineering stream.

Panel threatens to cancel entrance test
The Justice S.S. Subramani Committee on Wednesday threatened to cancel the common entrance test, conducted by the Tamil Nadu Private Professional Colleges Association-Health Sciences (TNPPCA-HS), for filling management quota seats in unaided medical and para-medical colleges.

Colleges plan to soon move Supreme Court
President of the All-India Medical and Engineering Colleges Association (AIMECA), T.D. Naidu, on Sunday said that in the wake of the Supreme Court order permitting self-financing colleges in different States to fill vacant seats on the basis of higher secondary examination marks, steps would be taken to move the court to fill vacancies in self-financing medical, nursing and para-medical colleges in the country.
