Tamilnadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination 2004


Friday, May 14, 2004 - Two students from the neighbouring districts of Namakkal and Erode have topped the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations. Satchi A. Surendran from Erode scored 99.28 marks (biology 49.28 and physical sciences 50), leading the toppers in the medical stream. V. Vignesh of Namakkal got 99.07 (mathematics 50 and physical sciences 49.07), securing the top slot in the Engineering group.

While five students throughout the State scored the maximum mark (50) in physical sciences, two got 50 in biology and only one student scored full marks in mathematics.

Apart from Satchi A. Surendran, K. Banuchaner and M. Arun Kumar of Erode, R. Rajaganesh from Chennai and S. Muthukani from Aruppukotai scored full marks in physical sciences. V.R. Gomathy of Erode and W. Deepak Prince of Madurai scored the maximum marks in biology. V. Vignesh is the lone student who got full marks in mathematics.

The average scores are 31.13 (biology), 23.08 (physical sciences) and 19.28 (mathematics).

The results came after a day's suspense. Officially, representatives of the web sites hosting the results were asked to come to the Examination Centre, Anna University, by 2 p.m. on Thursday to upload the results. However, as the university was a counting centre for the general elections, the process of releasing results was delayed.

The examinations were conducted on April 24 and 25 at 39 centres. Of 1,49,348 candidates who registered, 1,46,095 wrote the tests.

A total of 91,667 students appeared for the biology (including vocational) group examination as against 93,775 who registered. In physical sciences, only 1,41,272 of the total of 1,44,406 students who registered, wrote the examination. For mathematics 1,28,951students registered (including vocational) and 1, 25,140 wrote the examination.

Details of questions excluded from evaluation as recommended by subject experts and the answer keys will be displayed on the Anna University's notice board and also be made available on its web site, according to a release.
