Latha Mathavan Polytechnic
College is one of the prestigious educational
Institutions established by Karuppiah Pillai -
Theivanai Ammal Educational Trust run by Dr.K.Mathavan
M.B.B.S. (Madurai, India) PG.DOH (Malaysia) in the year
1996. This institution is the result of the tireless effort
put in by Dr.K.Mathavan M.B.B.S, Mrs. Latha Mathavan and
Shri.M.Nagalingam who brought up this Super mega project
in this very short time.
The polytechnic is situated at a distance of 21 kms from
the heart of the Madurai city. It has its own campus area
of 35 acres in the foot of Alagar hills. It is nearby
the holy shrine of Lord Alagar,today the Polytechnic has
become one of the premier technical Institutions in Tamilnadu
both in terms of technical manpower and academics.

One of the main attractions of LMP is its
beautiful location around the campus, which is on its
peak during monsoon season . Second reason for choosing
LMP is its well planned campus with nicely built Administration
buildings, Labs and Hostels.
Our Civil Engg. department was started in the year, and
now it was completed three fruitful years. Our department
presently offers civil engg diploma programme with well
qualified, dedicated teaching faculty for last three years.
And now this department was posseing five laboratories
namely: Survey lab, Concrete and construction lab, Material
testing lab, Fluid mechanics lab, Environmental Engg lab.
These laboratories are provided with well equipped and
sophisticated equipments for the conduct of classes. And
also these equipments were imported from vaious countries
so that students easily understand their experiments.
The Mechanical Engineering Department Laboratories have
been fully equipped with Equipments / Machines required
for conducting all the experiments framed by DOTE syllabus,
so that all our Department students are getting a thorough
practical training.
Library: Established in 1996, The Library
is a great work place for both the staff and students
functioning effectively, it promotes productive learning
and satisfaction. Our Polytechnic Library is a learning
resource centre with a large number of text book and reference
books in different Disciplines. Magazines and Journals
are also subscribed. The library plays an important role
in moulding the students into successful techno crafts.
The Library has developed an excellent collection of books,
journals and non-book material in Science, Engineering,
Technology, Career Guidance and Management. It maintains
separate collections of Reference Books, Standards, Journals,
Technical Reports, Theses, CD's. The library is using
ROVAN LMS OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), the users
can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author's name,
title, subject, and keywords available.

Latha Mathavan Polytechnic College has an
Independent Placement Cell devoted to Cater to the Needs
of the Organisations in conducting Campus Interviews for
Placements. Under the guidance of the Chairman and the
Principal, HODs of all Departments with a Placement Cell
Member [Lecturer] from each Department and the Placement
Officer working together for the benefit of the Students
Community.
During the summer vocation of the Pre-final year, our
students are deputed to different Industries for INPLANT
TRAINING.
The Placement and Training cell has been organising many
activities like Industrial Visits, Guest Lectures, Communication
Skills, Reasoning Skills, Group Discussion, Interview
Techniques.
As the Institution is famous among the Industries, more
number of Campus Interviews are being arranged for the
benefit of the students. We are developing our students
as per the requirement of the Industries.
