Saveetha Engineering College is a co-educational institution, run and managed
by the Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust, which is a registered
charitable society.
Established to be an ideal institution for imparting quality engineering education,
Saveetha Engineering College aims to be an institution of excellence
in every respect and also an illustration to other institutions with
a vision to be a model technical institution.
Spread over in an area of 50 acres of land, the campus of the Saveetha
Engineering College is located in a serene atmosphere in Mevallurkuppam
situated on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway midway between Poonmallee
and Sriperumbudar. The college is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories,
a modern library, modern hostels, spacious and well-ventilated canteen,
sophisticated and centrally air-conditioned Internet center with modern
gadgets, auditorium for cultural activities, indoor and outdoor facilities
for sports, etc

Saveetha Engineering College possesses unique Infrastructure in all aspects.
It has very spacious building and an environment conducive to intellectual
growth of the students. The building located in good natural ambience
have granite, marble and ceramic tiled floors. Both the first year block
and the circular block have air - Conditioned class rooms. All the laboratories
are well with the latest gadgest leaping beyond prescribed syllabous,
with the best ambience and state-of-the -art technology, coupled with
expert guidance from highly qualified teams.
Computer Lab: HP Lab, iMac Lab, eMac Lab. The Computer Laboratories are fully
equipped with leading branded systems, which are set up at International
Standards. The labs are made up of HP Computers (EPC - C10 Intel PIII
/ 800 MHz, Ultra small from factor), eMac Computers (Mac OS 10.2, eMac//500
MHz). The two servers *(X-Server- The Apple Server, 1 GHz Power PC/G4
processor & LAN Net Server E800 PII / 866 Model I, PIII 866) connected
facilitate the laboratories with all the required features connected
in a secured networking environment made up of Cisco System.
Electronics & Communication Lab: Well furnished and maintained electronics
devices, digital, telecom, DSP and Microprocessor / control labs (capable
of catering to a maximum of 30 students at a time ), equipped with the
latest and the best equipment and accessories are the highlights of
the ECE Department. One set of complete equipment, inclusive of CRO's,
is ensured for every two students. Apart from these, 100 MHz DSO, Advanced
Communication Trainers, Industry-Standard Advanced Processors and Electric
Simulation Workbench for digital and analog circuit simulations, all
from the special features of the ECE Department laboratories. These
facilities support design - verification and implementation stages,
thereby providing an ideal platform to foster developmental activities
of the students.
Electrical & Electronics Lab: Labs are artistically and meticulously designed
to give a super appearance with most modern and cosy furnishings. They
are well ventilated and hygienically maintained. A highly advanced Electric
Machines Lab, equipped with Kirloskar - make Thyristor - controlled.
150A, 150/P A.C/D.C Power Supply unit, Kirloskar-make 5 H.P A.C/D.C machines as
well as Automatic Electric make transformers and meters, 3 MHz function
Generators with Digital Readouts, 20 MHz CRO's with Dual Channel, Dual
trace, OXFORD make Bridges, etc., are some of the salient features of
the technically sound Electric Circuits Lab.
Physics Lab: The laboratory covering 2720 sq.ft. house Air Wedge Apparatus,
Spectrometer, Torsional Pendulum, Lee's Disc apparatus, Potentiometer,
He-Ne Lasers, Fibre Optical Communication kit, Ultrasonic Interferometers,
Hysteresis loop tracers, Band-gap Measurement kit, Electromagnet, Gauss
meter, Single Pan balance and Quinke's tub. Dark room facilities for
Optical measurements are available. Facilities exit for measurements
of Viscosity of liquids as well as Young's modulus of materials.
Chemistry Lab: The neatly designed, spacious and well - ventilated laboratory
has granite tables and floors. It is equipped with UV Spectrophotometer,
Flame Photometer, Distilled water plant, Kohlrausch Bridge, Digital
Conductivity meter, Hot air oven, Electronic Digital Weighing balances,
Physical Dhona balances, thermostat, Ph meters, Flash and Fire Point
apparatus, Could and Pour Point apparatus, Electric water bath and Conductivity
water plant. The laboratory has an area of 2720 sq.ft.
Workshops:
The Basic Engineering Workshops Comprise of Fitting , Carpentry, Welding,
Sheet metal work, as well as Foundry and Smithy. The Workshops are well
laid out architecturally and are well ventilated. Each Workshop can
comfortably accommodate 40 students.
Library:
The 9000 sq.ft. fully-automated Library houses over 12,000 Volumes,
250 CDs as well as 50 International & National Journals. It is a
Subscribed Member for Infotrac Journals. 250 International Journals
can be accessed at a time. The Library has well furnished Reading Room,
which can accommodate 70 students. It is equipped with 10 systems having
Internet Connection. It is well planned to develop the Library to house
all modern amenities like Reprographic Services, Micro-film Section,
Video & Audio Section, etc., The Library is an Institutional Member
of British Council Division.
Hostel:
Separate hostel are provided for boys and girls within the College
Campus itself. The hostels are located very close to the academic
blocks and can be reached within three minutes from these blocks.
The total built - up area currently is 6700 sq.mts. for the boy's
hostel and 2200 sq.mts. for the girls ' hostel. The hostels are present
can accommodate 250 boys and 120 girls. All are provided with a bathroom
equipped with foam mattresses, separate wardrobes and specially made
elegant furniture complete the ensemble. All the rooms are connected
to the common Internet facility. The rooms have plug - ins Computers
and Telephones. The hostel mess caters very well to the needs of the
hostellers with a homely atmosphere. The Management is fully geared
up to meet the growing demands for the Hostels both for boys and girls.
