With the advent of the new millennium,
technology is making rapid strides and pervading all spheres of life.
Prosperity of nations directly depends on the achievements in the technologies
like IT. Nations vie with one another to gain the technological supremacy.
Education provides the basics to attain technical skills. Without proficiency
in technical education, we are likely to be left behind in the race
for technological supremacy and the resultant prosperity. Education
without adherence to values and morals is blind. Therefore it is the
vision of Popular Educational Trust to reach out, to the best
of its ability, to impart world-class technical education with stress
on moral values to the youths of our nation in the order to be able
to face the challenges of the future. And our mission is to endeavour
to achieve excellence in technical education and to develop PET Engineering
College into a modern center of technical education with the best available
faculty, infrastructure and development
The PET Engineering College is sponsored by Popular Educational
Trust, a registered Charitable Trust, sponsors the PET Engineering
College. The Trustees, a number of them employed in Gulf countries,
are devoted to the cause of providing general and educationally backward
communities in particular. The Trustees also lay stress on the educational
uplift of Muslims. The Trust is founded from contributions received
from the Trustees and patrons and is managed by office bearers and a
Managing Committee. The establishment of the PET Engineering College
is the Major educational activity of the Trust
The PET Engineering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical
Education, New Delhi, recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu and
affiliated to the Anna University at Chennai. The College started
functioning from September 1998 in its permanent campus site with
spacious and attractive new buildings. The College is located at a
sprawling site of 57 acres on the Vallioor - Tiruchendur Highway about
4 km, from the Vallioor town and is well connected by roads and railways
to the length and breath of the country.

All the required facilities such
as buildings, Laboratories, workshops, machiners, equipment and tools,
Library, Computers and Softwares, Hostels, Play grounds, Gym etc., are
provided to facilitate the learning process, to keep up and improve
physical fitness and to enable the students acquiring the competence
and proficiency needed to gain a competitive edge.
COMPUTER LAB: In the Computer Science Engineering Department,
Programming Lab, Data Structure Lab, RDBMS Lab, Graphics and Multimedia
Lab, PC Hardware Lab, Internet Lab are functioning. Our Computer Lab
is equipped with a number of terminals with all Licenced Softwares.
ACAD (AutoCAD), Oracle 8,0, COBOL 85, Fortan 77, Ms Office 2000, Visual
Basic, Visual FoxPro, Visual C++, Visual J++, Novel Netware 4.1, Windows
NT server4.0, Windows 98, SCO Open Server 5.0.2, Red Hat Linux 7.2,
Macro Media Flash 5.0, Macro Media Web Design Studio 4.0, Macro Media
Director Shockwave Studio 8.5.
BROADBAND INTERNET LAB: To enable students to brows Internet
with speed, a browsing center is established with 64 kbps leased circuit
and ISDN lines. In addition, VSAT connectivity is also planned to be
introduced during the academic year 2003-04
CISCO PARTNERSHIP NETWORK LAB: To equip the students with skills
of international standard in networking, which has a vast employment
potential world over, a networking Lab is being established with Cisco
participation. PET Engineering College is a Cisco certified Local Academy.
LABORATORY COMPLEX:
A separate block is built to house our labs, namely Hydraulics Lab, Thermal Lab,
Dynamics Lab, Instrumentation Lab, Metallurgy Lab, Metrology Lab,
Basic Engineering Workshop, (Carpentry, Fitting, Electrical wiring,
Smithy, Foundry Welding, Sheet metal) Machine Shop, Lathes Milling
Machines, Shaping Machines, Grinding Machines, Drilling Machines,
Tool and cutter Grinder - under Mechanical Engineering.
Latest licensed Softwares like Auto CAD, Mechanical Desktop, Pro/E for CAD/CAM
Lab are acquired to enable students to keep abreast with the latest
technological trends in industries.
Electronic Devices Lab, Microwave and Optical Fiber Lab, Communication Lab, Electronic
Circuits Lab, Integrated Circuits Lab, Microprocessor and Micro Controller
Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab etc are setup to cater to students
of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Our Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department has fully equipped Electrical
Machines Lab, Measurement and Control Systems Lab and Power Electronics
Lab, Similarly a full-fledged Strength of Materials Lab adds Luster
to our Civil Engineering Department.
LANGUAGE LAB:
English is an international language. It is used world wide by people to communicate,
with one another in the areas of technology, travel, and popular entertainment
and most importantly in business. The essential tool of communication
is language. Language enables people to share knowledge, feeling and
ideas. Keeping this in mind a well-furnished English Language Lab
is set up in order to develop the LSRW skills of the students. By
listening to the audio and video cassettes the students will get opportunity
to hear both British and American English as well as many accents
of English which they should be familiar with. In addition, students
are provided the facility to learn more then one foreign language
like German, French.
LIBRARY: The college library is housed in the main building for
the time being. A separate block will be constructed in the near future
exclusively for library. At present, the library is subscribing to a
number of journals and periodicals of national and international level
in various branches of Engineering. The library has around 10000 volumes.
More over DELNET (Developing Library Network) connection is available
and automation of library is done keeping in mind the wide - spread
knowledge needed for the students.
CASSETTE AND CD's: Lectures of eminent professors of IITs and
other distinguished teachers recorded in video cassettes and CDs are
available to help students to fine their knowledge on different subjects.
PLAY GROUNDS:
We have facilities for playing Football, Volleyball, Kabadi, Throw ball, Badminton,
Shuttlecock, Table Tennis, Gymnasium, Cricket, Kho-Kho etc. A modern
Basketball court is laid to help students to use then spare time in
the evening addition gyms are provided both for boys and girls.
HOSTEL: Separate Hostels with spacious rooms, dining halls, steam
cooking kitchens and modern facilities are available for Men and Women
students. Indoor games and TVs are provided for entertainment. Browing
Centres are set up to help the serious students to use their spare time
more beneficially.

Our placement & Training Cell is very active and conducted many
HRD and career development programmes, by which a number of students
have been placed last year and many more have been selected in interviews
by prominent companies in Campus Interviews.
