Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi is one of the reputed
private Engineering Colleges started under self-financing scheme on
17th October 1984. MEPCO refers to the Metal Powder Company, Thirumangalam
and Schlenk is the German collaborator of the company. The institution
is sponsored by the Mepco Schlenk Charities, a social welfare
organisation of the Metal Powder Company Limited, Thirumangalam, which
has won many National Awards for the outstanding performance
in export promotion and R & D. The Board of Directors of our college
are dynamic men with far sighted vision and wisdom, experienced in running
several successful industries over three decades and also well-versed
in running other educational institutions. The college was affiliated
to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and now it is affiliated to Anna
University, Chennai from 2001.
Sri. A. Grahadurai, Thiru. A. Vairaprakasam and Dr. S. Balakrishnan
serve as the President, Correspondent and Principal in-charge of
the college respectively.
Our college was selected by the Indian Society for Technical Education
(ISTE) for prestigious Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for having
the Best Overall Performance in the year 1998. Five of our undergraduate
courses were subjected to accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation
(NBA) and all of them have been awarded the highest grade of 'A'.
Our college has received ISO 9002 certificate from M/s. DNV, Netherlands.
Our college has been selected as an Centre of Relevance and Excellence
(CORE) in Industrial Safety and was inaugurated by Bharat Ratna
Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The sprawling college campus is located
at Mepco Nagar in a serene atmosphere about 11 km from Sivakasi and
15 km from Virudhunagar on the Sivakasi-Virudhunagar state highway.
It has established a name for itself by adhering to the principle, "Work
is Worship". The infrastructural facility of the campus is about
Rs.54.5 Crores and frequently upgraded. It is committed to excellence
in imparting technical expertise and managerial capabilities. The
spacious buildings and other infrastructural facilities with exquisite
architecture and lush green lawns add to the beauty of the campus.
Computing Facilities at a cost of about Rs.3/- crores have been
established in all departments. The college library and office also
have been computerized. Boys & Girls hostels are also provided with
computers to enable the students to work during late hours. About 600
systems are available in the campus as on date. Our college administrative
office is fully computerized and air conditioned. On the whole, the
total capacity of air conditioning systems is around 100 tons. Campus
wide networking has been done to access internet from any department
in the college.
Library: MSEC Library is housed in a two-storied separate building covering
an area of 25,000 sq. ft. All the reading rooms in our Library have
been air-conditioned to provide a congenial atmosphere to users. With
the generous contribution by the Management and the special interest
taken by the Principal, the Library is being equipped steadily and systematically.
Our college Library is well equipped in terms of the number of books,
back volumes and current journals subscribed. Apart from catering
to the needs of its faculty and students, the use and services of
our College Library are extended to Private/Public Organizations upon
its being admitted as a member of our Library.
Hostel: We have provided five hostels for gents and two hostels for
ladies in the college campus. The total number of rooms available
for boys are 726 to accommodate 1300 students and 158 rooms are available
to accommodate 660 girls.

The cell is headed by a professor with independent charge, and each
department is represented by a nominated faculty member and three student
members, Mr.D.Manohar with over two decades of professional experience
in companies of repute is in-charge.
Visiting various corporate houses regularly to invite them to the campus
for recruitment. Assisting the corporates who visit the campus for recruitment
in the conduct of various tests and GD's. Organizing industrial visits
to various industries as recommended by the departments. Helping the
final year students to get sponsoring industries to do their project
work as recommended by the departments. To organise behavioral training
programmes to bring about an overall development, improve self-esteem
& confidence level, develop better presentation skills, learn to
communicate well & participation in GD's, Mock personal interviews,
etc. Organise Entrepreneur Development Programme to help students who
wish to start their own industries.
Arrange coaching methodologies for GRE/TOFEL, Foreign Languages, Special
Skills, GATE, etc.

Our College is located near Mathiasenai at about 15 Km from Virudhunagar
and 11 Km from Sivakasi on the Virudhunagar-Sivakasi State Highways
and is easily accessible owing to the large number of buses plying on
this commercial route.
