Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering,
popularly known as DCE, was started in the year 2001 out
of the vision of the eminent academician and former professor
of Anna University, Dr.V.P.Ramamurthi.
The ardent desire of Dr.V.P.Ramamurthi, Founder and Managing
Trustee of Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust
is to serve the student community culminated into this
sprawling institution.
DCE has grown into a premiere institution providing quality
Engineering Education to mould the students into technologically
sound, efficient, effective and creative engineers. The
College campus is located in the neighbourhood of highly
industrialized and technologically advanced city of Chennai
(Madras), Tamil Nadu.

The DCE
is beautiful campus with well laid out roads, and departmentalised
buildings. It is situated in a quiet, pleasant and spacious plan conducive
for good education.
The buildings include separate block for Humanities and Sciences, Computer Science
& Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical
& Electronics Engineering and Workshop admeasuring a total area
of more than 1 lakh and twenty thousand square feet. Every block is
provided with large, spacious and airy class rooms, laboratries and
other common facilities such as staff rooms, modern auditorium, library,
seminar hall, rest rooms, toilets etc., making it completely self
contained.
The DCE has a well furnished, lit and ventilated library has a collection
of more than 8000 books to meet the requirements, as per the latest
syllabus of Anna University. It subscribes to a large number of dailies
and journals, both national and international in various subjects.
The computer centre is designed, laid out and so scientifically that the students
can spend hours together at the terminals without fatigue and with
total independence.
The Electrical laboratory houses Electrical Machines Lab - I with DC machines and
transformers and Electrical Machines Lab - II with AC machines.
The Electronics laboratory is equipped with latest, highly sophisticated and expensive
equipments. The students work individually and independently with
the latest electronic gadgets.
A spacious hall equipped with modern, adjustable type drawing tables and stools
intended to facilitate the students to do the drawings with ease and
comfort is provided.
The Workshop consists of carpentry section, fitting section, welding section, smithy
section, foundry section and sheet metal section with tools such as
bench drilling machine, foundry equipments, sheet metal tools, grinding
machine etc.

Training and Placement Cell is an integral
part of our institution. The institute has provided complete
infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell.
The cell has a director with a team of 6 dedicated faculty
who train the students of all years. Training activities
are organized throughout the year in preparing the prospective
students for the campus selection programmes.
Reputed industrial houses across the country visit our
institute regularly for the campus recruitment programmes.
The placement cell coordinates quite well with the corporate
sector and provides well-developed infrastructure to facilitate
the campus selection programmes. The cell is designed
to function with a high degree of professionalism. It
provides almost instantaneous data to the corporate sector
with regard to the candidates available for consideration
towards placement in accordance with the perceived requirements.
Indeed, we have been appreciated more often by the industrial
houses for this special feature embedded in our work philosophy.
