R.V.S. College of Arts & Science
was the first self-financing college
to be set up under the Bharathiar University. Established in 1986,
it not only saved miles of trekking for the youth of Sulur region
in search of higher education, but also provided a cost effective,
and high quality educational addition to Coimbatore itself. Over the
past 13 years it has grown to become the biggest self-financing college
in terms of students strength, offering U.G.and P.G Courses.
The college aims at giving an all-round development with equal emphasis
on co-curricular activities through associations to develop the talents
and mental ability of the students.

Computer Lab: The Computer center is well equipped with 4 servers and 200
terminals, UNIX as well as LAN systems are in operation. All are Latest
Pentium Machines supported with new versions of software as per the
curriculum. Keeping abreast with IT changes updations are made. Tutorial
CDs are available.
Electronics Lab: The College has an Electronics Lab with all modern gadgets
in the field, like CRO, Function generators, RF oscillators, Microprocessor,
and Micro controller Kits
Catering Lab: The Department of Catering Science is well equipped
with equipment worth Rs. 15 Lakhs.
The Department has (a) A Basic training kitchen. (b) A Basic training
restaurant (c) A Bakery unit with microwave oven, deep freezer etc.,
(d) A Quantitative training kitchen, (e) House keeping section and (f)
A Front Office. The department hosted Cat-A-Fest '96', Oriental Nite
'97' & '2000' and Camfest '04 food fes tivals on a grand scale.
Microbiology Lab: The department of Microbiology has a well equipped laboratory
with culture room, inoculation chambers for carrying out all the basic
microbiological Techniques relevant to the field of Medicine, Industry,
Food and Agriculture. Relevant text books, reference books and journals
are available.
Biochemistry Lab: The Department has a well-equipped laboratory with basic amenities
for carrying out all the basic Biochemical techniques, Relevant text
books, references and journals are available.
Food & Nutrition Lab: Master of Science in Food and Nutrition is
a two year integrated course, which is application-oriented with unique
research, training and job opportunities. There is a well-equipped advanced
laboratory. Relevant reference text books and journals are available.
Biotechnology Lab: The Department of Biotechnology has a well-equipped Lab with
instruments and facilities for Molecular Biology, Tissue Culture, Microbiology
and Fermentation Technology.
Library: The College has a library with over 17,000 books in all disciplines.
The college subscribes to about 80 professional journals and magazines
and eight news papers.
