| Infrastructure |
 |
|
The Management is very particular that the
best infrastructure should be provided to the students.
Class-rooms are well furnished. Laboratories are ultra-modern
with all the necessary equipments apparatus and chemicals.
A new modern library has been set up. All the students
are provided clean potable mineral water. For this purpose,
mineral water plants are operated round the clock. No
programme of daily routine suffers for want of power because
two very powerful gen sets are maintained ready to meet
any eventuality.
To accommodate two departments viz. Hotel Management and
Catering Science and Textiles and Fashion Design, a huge
block at a cost Rs.2 crores has been completed this academic
year. Efforts are being taken to provide ultra modern
facilities in these two departments. Besides these major
works, the laboratories belonging to two departments viz.
Microbiology and Biochemistry have been given a face-lift.
Since the number of students being enrolled in the College
and Hostel is steadily increasing, additional class rooms
and hostel rooms are urgently needed. Six rooms have been
added at the lady’s hostel so far. I believe, the
management will soon take steps to create additional class
rooms as well as hostel rooms.
Libraries: We have two libraries, one exclusively
for MCA Students and the other being a general library.
While in the general library there are 15224 volumes,
In the MCA library 2996 volumes are available. Every year
quite a good sum of money is allocated for the purchase
of library books with the result the number of volumes
is steadily increasing. The management was pleased to
allocate Rs.5 lakhs for the purchase of library books
and journals this year.
Our Institution being a member of the society of Electrical
and Electronic Engineers, USA we are privileged to subscribe
to the following foreign journals:
§ IEEE Broadcast Technology
§ IEEE Communications
§ IEEE Component, Packaging and Manufacturing
§ IEEE Computational Intelligence
§ IEEE Computers
§ IEEE Education
§ IEEE Engineers Management
§ IEEE Robotics and Automation
§ IEEE Signal Processing
§ IEEE System, man and cybernetics
Hostel Facilities: To cater to the needs of the
students from far-away places, other states and countries,
hostels have been established. There are three hostels,
one for undergraduate boys, one for postgraduate boys
and the third for girl students. In the lady’s hostel,
besides the students from Arts & Science College,
girl students of Polytechnic College and Engineering College
are also accommodated. At present, 588 students stay in
the hostels. Of them 170 are accommodated in the UG hostel,
198 in the PG hostel and 220 in the Lady’s hostel.
We have proposals to set up a full-fledged international
hostel for the foreign students soon. Mess is run on dividing
system. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is served
in the hostels.
Transport Facilities: Majority of our students
are day-scholars. Majority of them belong to the poorer
sections of the society who cannot afford to stay in college
hostels. The College buses provide them very easy, convenient
and comfortable mode of transport from their door steps
to the college and vice-versa, at a more moderate charges.
No wonder, our day scholars, majority of them, take the
best advantage of these buses. Besides students, many
staff members also travel in these buses. As many as 1120
students and a good number of staff members are benefited
by our bus transport.
We are proud that we have a strong fleet of 40 buses and
5 vans plying in different routes covering a radius of
50 to 70 KM. The following table provides information
with regard to the different destinations, important places
enroute etc.

| Placement |
 |
|
The objective of a higher educational institution
now-a-days is not only to impart sound and value-based
education to the students but also to help them in getting
suitable placements, which will ensure them a prosperous
and purposeful life. To achieve this objective, colleges
periodically arrange for campus-interviews either for
students of their respective colleges or for other college
students also. Accordingly, Muthayammal Educational Institutions
also arranged for nine campus-interviews during this year.
In our College there is a placement cell. More than 200
students got placements from the following organizations.
During 2006-07, 597 students from this institution attended
campus interviews, 36 of these students got placements.
