The formation of the Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust was initiated
by the philanthropic spurts exerted by Thiru. S. Regupathy in
association with a group of like-minded patrons who are best regarded
for their bountiful services to the promotion of education. The avowed
objective of the Trust was to provide facilities for innovative higher
education with vocational bias.
An epitome of higher learning, the J.J. College of Arts and Science
is the Trust’s first educational endeavour of benevolence. The other
three Government colleges of long standing and serving hitherto the
cause of higher education in Pudukkotai were all confined to conventional
field of study. With the technological boom and drift in global values,
there formed a gap in the educational field as the courses in emerging
fields of knowledge were yet to reach the region. With the social consciousness
to bridge the gap, J.J. College of Arts and Science was incepted in
1994.
The College, with the approval of Tamilnadu State Government accorded in GOMS1040 dated 10.11.1993 and affiliation
from the Bharathidasan University started functioning on 17th January 1994.

Four stately buildings,
spread in the sprawling campus of 42 acres, cover a plinth area of 2,50,000
sq.ft. The Main Building of stupendous structure, an architectural marvel,
comprises commodious and octagonal shaped class rooms designed on learners
human engineering principles, seminar halls, luxurious libraries, reading
hall, besides the administrative office.
The Laboratory Complex accommodates the Catering and Hotel Management
Department, laboratories belonging to the departments of Biochemistry,
Physics, Chemistry and Industrial Electronics apart from the most sophisticated,
aesthetic theatres of Visual Communication.
The Post Graduate Block houses the enviable laboratories and class rooms
belonging to the departments of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Gene
Technology besides the unique computerdrome.
The separate blocks for Management Studies consists of Lecture halls, Computer Centre, Audio Visual hall, Library and Seminar Hall
and provides a healthy learning environment for the promotion of future corporate players.

An active Training and placement is function in out institution under the guidance
of the placement officer. The main function of this cell is to arrange for on campus & off - campus interviews for
the students after giving sufficient training in these aspects. Mock interviews and aptitude test are conducted in order to
train the students. Apart from this, the cell arranges industrial visits, inplant training, seminars, guest lecturers, and
industry-institute interaction.
