Sriram Educational Trust was
founded in the year 1983 with donations from philanthropists for the
noble purpose of promoting education at all levels by establishing Polytechnic,
Institute of Catering Technology and Hotel Management, Engineering College,
Arts & Science College, Institute of Business Management and Training
and Research Institutions. Students hailing from the backward areas
of Tiruvallur and North Arcot districts of Tamilnadu have been immensely
benefited by the Educational Institutions run by the Trust.
Sriram Polytechnic College was established in the year
1984 with the approval of Government of Tamil Nadu in G.O. Ms. No.:
365 (Edn) dated 29-4-1984. It is affiliated to the State Board of Technical
Education and being run by Sriram Educational Trust.

Sriram Polytechnic College is
located in an extensive vast area of land in which buildings and workshop
sheds measuring about 80,000 square feet are put up, Well equipped Laboraties.
Modern machineries are installed as per standards prescribed by the
Director of Technical Education.
The College has a well equipped state of the art 24 hrs computer centre
and internet facility with 512 kbps bandwidth.
Library: The college has Computerised Library with
innumerable volumes of books and encyclopedias for the benefit of the
students. The library also subscribes to numerous Indian and Foreign
Periodicals, Journals and Magazines. The students are free to use the
library to make it as a culture by giving assignments in various subjects.
Hostel: The College has fully furnished separate hostels
for boys and girls with 24 hrs hot water supply. A common mess complex
with a plinth area of dining hall for boys, girls, staff and guests
separately.
Transport: Sriram Polytechnic College is within walking
distance from Veppampattu Railway Station. Bus facility from important
points in Chennai is available to the college.
