September 13, 2009 - All India Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2010 (GATE 2010) for Post Graduate Programs

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Programs Offered: Master / Doctoral programmes in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science

Important Dates to Remember:
Commencement of:
1) Sale of information brochure and offline GATE 2009 application forms: 22.09.2009
2) Online application form submission: 22.09.2009
3) Last date for issue of Information Brochure and Application Form: 30.10.2009 extended to 07.11.2009
Last date for submissions:
1) Online application form submission (website closure): 03.11.2009 extended to 10.11.2009
2) Receipt of completed Online / Offline application form at different GATE Offices: 03.11.2009 extended to 10.11.2009
Date of the GATE 2009 examination:
Computer based online GATE examination (for TF paper): 07.02.2010 (09:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
Computer based online GATE examination (for MN paper): 07.02.2010 (02:30 PM - 05:30 PM)
Offline GATE examinations (For all other papers): 14.02.2010 (09:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

Application Cost:
Offline: Application fee General & OBC Rs.1000/- (SC/ST/PD Rs.500/-)
Online: Application fee General & OBC Rs.800/- (SC/ST/PD Rs.400/-)

Mode of Payment (DD / Cash):
1.From Designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone on cash payment.
2.From Zonal GATE Office by sending a request letter and TWO self-addressed slips along with a demand draft payable at Kanpur in the name of "Chairman GATE, IIT Kanpur" for appropriate amount.
3.From Zonal GATE Office after handing over demand draft payable at Kanpur in the name of "Chairman GATE, IIT Kanpur" for appropriate amount.
4.Online Payment is possible through HDFC bank payment gateway using Mastercard or Visa credit cards or debit cards of certain banks.
Application Forms:

• In Person: Candidate can obtain a packet containing (i) OFFLINE Application Form (ii) Information Brochure (iii) Acknowledgment Card (iv) Envelope from: Designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone on cash payment or Zonal GATE Office after handing over Demand Draft for appropriate amount. Duly filled-in Application Form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination, on or before November 10, 2009.

Eligbility:

• Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  
• Master's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  
• Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering / Technology.
  
• Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC / AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AME by ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
  

The completed application form should be sent so as to reach the addressee on or before 10.11.2009.
