Profile
The S.R.M University
is part of the 35 year old SRM Group of Educational Institutions,
sponsored by the Valliammai Society. The Valliammai
Society was founded by Thiru.T.R.Pachamuthu,
a well-known educationist, in the name of his mother Tmt.R.Valliammai,
under whose care and guidance he attained greater heights
in his personal development and whose ideals continue
to inspire him.
The Valliammai Society runs several educational institutions under the S.R.M. (Sri Ramasamy Memorial) Group, named after his father, Thiru.Ramasamy. Thiru.Pachamuthu, the Chairman, S.R.M. Group of Institutions, beginning his career as a teacher, now serves the community as a Chancellor, dedicating his life to the cause of education. Thiru.Pachamuthu, Chairman of the Valliammai Society is ably assisted by Thiru.P.Ravi as the Co-Chairman, Thiru.P.Sathyanarayanan as the Vice-Chairman, Dr.R.Shivakumar as the Secretary and Tmt.Easwari Pachamuthu as the Treasurer of the Society.
The Valliammai Society commenced its educational activities with a humble beginning in 1969 by starting a Primary School in the name of Florence Nightingale and upgrading the same to the status of Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the year 1981. In 1984, S.R.M. ventured into higher education with the launch of the Valliammai Polytechnic. The year 1985 saw the birth of the S.R.M. Engineering College, one of the most prestigious Institutions in Engineering and Technology and also the flagship Institutions of the group, encompassing all disciplines of Technical Education.
During 1992-93 the S.R.M. Group ventured into Medical Education and started S.R.M. College of Nursing and S.R.M. College of Pharmacy. During 1993-94 two more Medical Institutions namely S.R.M. School of Nursing and S.R.M. College of Physiotherapy were added. During the same year, the Group entered into Hotel Management Education. The S.R.M. Institute of Hotel Management was started in 1993, having two campuses, one at Chennai and the other at Tiruchirapalli. The greatest advantage that this Institution offers to its students is the benefit of a deluxe Star Hotel attached to each campus of this Institute. During 1993-94 S.R.M. Arts & Science College was added to the S.R.M. Groups of Institutions. In 1995, the Group launched the S.R.M. Dental College with a full-fledged Dental Hospital attached to the College. In 1996 the Valliammai Polytechnic received the much-needed relief with the launch of a sister Institution, the S.R.M. Polytechnic. During 1996-97 Thiru. Pachamuthu opened another Engineering College in the name of his wife and called it as Easwari Engineering College. In the same year S.R.M. College of Occupational Therapy was added to the Group of Medical Educational Institutions. During 1997-98 the group made an entry into North India with the launch of the S.R.M. Institute of Management and Technology in Delhi. In 1999 the Valliammai Society added a third Engineering College in the name of Valliammai Engineering College to the S.R.M. Group of Institutions.

Infrastructure
>The University is situated in three different
serene and green landscaped campuses, one at Kattankulathur
in Kancheepuram District, a suburb of Chennai City on
the G.S.T. Road (Chennai – Trichy National Highway,
NH 45), 20 km from Chennai Airport, the second at Ramapuram,
within the Corporation of Chennai City, adjacent to the
link Road that leads to the Chennai – Bangalore
National Highway NH4 and third in Modinagar, Delhi.
The Kattankulathur Campus houses all the three Faculties including of Engineering and Technology (erstwhile S.R.M. Engineering College), the faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (Medical College and Research Center), the College of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Science & Humanities. This campus has a network of 30 blocks for academic and administrative activities with a built up area of over 1,50,000 sq.m. Adjacent to the University complex, there are other institutes, namely, Valliammai Engineering College, Valliammai Polytechnic, S.R.M. Polytechnic and S.R.M. Arts and Science College of the S.R.M. Group. This campus also has a 3 star Hotel "Royal Southern" and a General Hospital attached to the Medical College. The total spread of this campus is about 200 acres of land.
The Ramapuram Campus houses the College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Physiotherapy, College of Occupational therapy and a few disciplines of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the Deemed University in 5 Blocks with a built-in area of over 32,500 sq.m. This campus also houses another Institute, Easwari Engineering College of the S.R.M. Group. Further, a multi-speciality Hospital and a Community Health Center are also available in this campus. The total spread of this campus is about 20 acres of land.
The Delhi Campus is situated in Modinagar, near Delhi, in a landscape of 9.5 acres housing the Institute of Management and Technology of the Deemed University. The Institute in this Campus has excellent infrastructure facilities including well furnished classrooms, laboratories, computer centers with latest equipments, a good library, hostel facilities and play grounds. The campuses of the University are provided with facilities like Post office, Banking, Playgrounds, Cafe & Restaurants, Internet Browsing Centers, etc., for a comfortable living and learning.

By the end of the 5th or beginning of the
