B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College is sponsored by
All India Islamic Foundation. The members of the Foundation are eminent
personalities in various walks of life as education, research, industry,
business and administration. The President of the Foundation Alhaj
B.S. Abdur Rahman is the Chairman of the Governing Body of the College
and is also the Managing Trustee of the Seethakathi Trust, Chennai,
which has established schools par excellence at Vandalur, Chennai, for
boys and at Nungambakkam, Chennai for girls and also a leading Arts
and Science College for Women at Kilakarai. Further, the foundation
runs schools for girls at Nagore and at Madurai with vocational training.
The Foundation is dedicated itself to the cause of education with a
special attention to technical education to the educationally, socially
and economically backward community. In the light of this, Crescent
Engineering College was established in 1984 by any order of the Govt.
of Tamilnadu as a Muslim Minority College, approved by the All India
Council for Technical Education and affiliated to the premier and world
renowned university of Madras. At present the College is affiliated
to Anna University.

Infrastructure
The College is situated in a sprawling, serene and evergreen campus, conducive
to academic and research pursuit in an area of 60 acres at the Seethakathi
Estate, Vandalur, Chennai, in the outskirts of Chennai City on GST
Road (Chennai - Trichy National Highway NH 45), 7 KM from Tambaram
Raliway Station and 16 KM Chennai Air Terminal. Being adjacent to
the Anna Zoological Park, it is easily accessible by frequent city
buses.
Ample open spaces with shady trees add to the aesthetic beauty of the campus and entice the students to outdoor learning. The vast campus has a well planned network of blocks of various departments, reading halls, classrooms, laboratories and many playgrounds.
These blocks apart, the campus has residential buildings for the members of faculty and other staff and separate hostels for men and women students.

Placement
The Placement and Training Centre of the College is equipped to conduct campus interviews by industries and other organisations. The centre sends invitations to large, medium and small scale manufacturing industries and service organisations in public and private sectors, all over India and arranges campus interviews for job placements.
The centre further arranges practical training to the students of both Under Graduate and Post Graduate classes during summer and winter vacations and practical oriented projects.
