Engineering design contest
Barry Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR) has announced
its first annual engineering design contest, ‘Design Ace
2009’. The contest targets the engineering students across
Tamil Nadu and will offer awards worth Rs.75,000 and three months’
paid internship at BWIR, which provides business and technology
solutions to the manufacturing domain.
“The competition is an effort to promote and encourage
design capabilities among the engineering students in Tamil
Nadu. BWIR has taken this effort to give an opportunity for
young brains to bring out their fresh, innovative ideas and
exhibit their design capabilities,” said Vasant Bennett,
President and Managing Partner of BWIR.
The competition will be conducted in two rounds: In the first
round, participating teams need to submit an innovative design
of their choice and a design for a business problem provided
by BWIR, along with a short write-up.
For the second round, 20 short-listed teams will travel to Chennai
and present their models in front of a jury that would choose
the top three teams.
Registrations are open to teams of two from all engineering
colleges across Tamil Nadu.
The final is expected to be held on March 7, 2009. For more
