Madurai: A programme on development of soft skills, organised by the Department of Commerce of Sourashtra College in association with ‘SHARP,’ a forum of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the benefit of under-graduate students, was inaugurated by N. M. R. S. Chandirakanthan, Principal. Thirty two students enrolled for the programme, which is held during weekends.


The first session was conducted by S. N. N. Sivapiran. He highlighted the need for developing communication skills in English and the merits of public speaking. The usual symptoms of poor public speaking were rapid heart beat, trembling knees, quivering voice, stomach fluttering, blurring of eyes, sweating hands, mouth going dry and mind going blank. Students were given a chance to deliver lectures on unannounced topics.
