HC asks govt to grant NOC to medical college
Chennai: The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government
to grant a no-objection certificate (NOC) to a private medical
college proposed by the Deen Dayal Medical and Educational Trust, in a prescribed
format within four weeks.
An interim order to this effect was passed by Justice K Kannan,
on a writ petition filed by the Trust chairman and managing
trustee T D Naidu, last week.
The judge, pointing out that the government already carried
out the mandatory inspection and concluded that the institution
fulfilled all necessary norms, said the NOC shall be given "in
terms of the prescribed format in Form-2."
Though the government issued an NOC in January 2007 and forwarded
it to the Centre in November 2007, it was not in the format
prescribed in the MCI regulation, Naidu had stated in his petition.
The essentiality certificate issued to the new medical college,
with a sanctioned annual student intake of 150, shall comply
with the regulation, he said.
Justice Kannan said that since inspection is over and the institution
had fulfilled all necessary norms "the NOC shall be translated
in terms of the prescribed format in Form-2 ".
