Recruitment drive under way

Madurai: A two-day campus recruitment drive, being organised by Madurai Kamaraj University for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates, began at the MKU College here on Saturday.

Sutherland Global Services is recruiting candidates for the post of ‘Technical Support Executive,’ offering an annual salary in the range of Rs.1.7 lakh.

I. Singaram, Registrar, in his inaugural address, said that attending a job fair was not like appearing for an examination because companies were looking for candidates with technical and communication skills. “Three aspects are important for success. They are self-knowledge, self-control and self confidence and once all these three are there, an individual’s chances of success will be bright,” Dr. Singaram said.

IT firms not hit
R. Madhanagopal, Principal, MKU College, said that the global meltdown in financial markets may not affect recruitment by IT companies. Domestic software companies would continue to thrive as they had started diversifying their operations. The selection process at this recruitment drive includes technical assessment, online test, panel discussion and HR interview. P. Gunasekaran, Special Officer, MKU, was present. The recruitment drive, which will be held on Sunday also, is open to all UG/PG students who passed out in April’08 batch and earlier. They should bring to the venue a copy of their resume and three passport size photographs.
