New course inaugurated
Thanjavur: The new “ME-VLSI Design” course was inaugurated
on Friday at the Kings College of Engineering near here.
It was launched Friday in the presence of D.Radhakrishnan,
Associate Vice-President, and T.Velayutham, Regional Manager, HCL Infosystems Ltd.
Mr. Radhakrishnan said that HCL will be happy to conduct “on campus”
placement drives at Kings College from the forthcoming year onwards.
He reiterated HCL’s commitment to rural students and the company’s
long standing practice of recruiting fresh employees through campus interviews.
Earlier, T.R.B. Rajaa, in his presidential address, urged top
companies like HCL to give special preference to students from rural areas.
“Rural students are as talented and proficient in technical skills as urban students.
Companies stand to gain more from rural students as their demand for remuneration is
less than urban students and they tend to have a sentimental attachment to
the “first employer.” He announced that starting from 2009-10, one student from
each department at Kings College will be offered a “free seat” in the ME VLSI design
course based on their overall aggregate.
