Guiding students to colleges of their choice

An exclusive portal offers unique service to help students make informed decisions

Madurai: The anxious wait for the results of the Plus-Two examinations is over, and students are now racking their brains to find out their chances of admission to engineering and medical colleges.

They need proper guidance while choosing the college. The role played by the web world — which provides instant results and printed mark statements among other things — cannot be slighted. There are numerous web-based agencies that provide information about courses and colleges, making the job of students easier.

An exclusive portal, www.collegesintamilnadu.com, has come out with a unique service to help students make informed decisions.

Most of the students with aggregate marks in hand will be eager to know their prospects of getting admission to premier institutions.

According to R.V.Srivatsan, Managing Director, Adroit Techno Solutions, Chennai, who runs the website, students can enter their aggregate marks to find out the number of those who have the same aggregate or above. “It will help them understand their position and plan accordingly. Besides, the website provides them with valid inputs. Once they register their marks, the courses they wish to join and their category on http://www.collegesintamilnadu.com/counseling/tnea_cutoff_search.asp, the website will throw up a list of colleges where the students stand a chance of getting admission (it is based on the previous year’s cut-off marks).”

“It is better to keep in mind the possibility of aggregate marks obtained by students during the current year being slightly higher than those of last year. Hence, students have to consider this change while assessing the probability of getting admission,” he says.
