Over 1,100 students of the College of Engineering, Guindy, got
offer letters from Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) at Anna
University on Friday. This represents the highest number of
offers received by the students of an engineering college from
a single company, P. Mannar Jawahar, Placement Director, Centre
for University-Industry Collaboration, Anna University, said.
Announcing the results, T. Sridhar, Chief People Officer, CTS,
said, “Our relationship with Anna University dates back
to 1996 when we started our campus recruitment programme. Cognizant
has become the fastest growing IT services and BPO company largely
due to the exemplary contribution made by the alumni of Anna
University and other premier institutions in the country.”
Dr. Jawahar said, “Cognizant has been a key recruiter
from Anna University for many years and we cherish the association
with the company.”
Congratulating the students, the Dean of College of Engineering,
Dr. M. Sekar, and Dr. S. Shanmugavel, Registrar-in-charge, Anna
University, exhorted the students to uphold the value systems
that Anna University had enshrined in them and urged them to
continue to make the institution proud in the industry.
Cognizant also announced that while it recruited engineers traditionally
for technical functions, the students of Anna University to
whom offers have been made, will also be deployed for techno-business
functions.
This would help CTS to provide solutions to business problems
of their customers and help them build stronger businesses.
