More Chinese students to enrol at BU
- Already 12 students are studying in the university
- VC pleased with performance of first batch
Coimbatore: Seventeen more Chinese students from Huaihua
University, China, have enrolled to pursue degree courses
in English at the Bharathiar University.
According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, already 12
students were studying at the university. In addition to
the 17 who have enrolled now, 24 are expected to join shortly.
“Their admission is under process. The students have
applied for BA and MA degree programmes in English and Computer
Science,” he said.
Since the university could only accommodate 30 students, the
rest would be distributed to the colleges on the basis of their
infrastructure availability and interest.
The Vice-Chancellor is pleased with the performance of the first
batch. “They have completed first semester and their performance
has been exceptional. When they came they did not know English.
In a matter of five months, they are able to converse and write
without mistakes. This is a good sign. Both the students and
faculty have put in lot of efforts for this outcome.”
According to the memorandum of understanding signed by both
the universities, a martial arts expert in Kung Fu would come
to Bharathiar University under the faculty exchange programme
to teach students here. He would be available at the university
from July 8 to September 8.
Similarly, a yoga teacher from Coimbatore would leave for Huaihua
University.
