Karakudi: Alagappa University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Shevaroys Institute of Hotel Management, Yercaud, under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

This would facilitate the varsity to set up infrastructure and instructional facilities for catering institute at the cost of the private player under the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis. After inking the agreement with R. Devadoss, Chairman of Shevaroys Viruthambal Trust, Salem, here on Wednesday, P. The varsity would provide land for creating the infrastructure. The trust would construct infrastructure and run the institution for 15 years. While the university would take care of educational part of the programmes, the trust would appoint faculty and others. “The aim is to offer quality catering education to the people of the region with excellent facilities. The revenue sharing formula will be 60 percent for the university and 40 percent for the trust,” Mr. Ramasamy said.

S. Kaliyamoorthy, Director, Collaborative Programmes, Alagappa University, said the institute would function initially at a hostel building and the programmes would be introduced from the current academic year itself.

E. Elamathian, Registrar, V. Manickavasagam, Controller of Examinations, said all preliminary works enroll to students had already been initiated.
