University plans six new courses
In hospitality segment
Madurai: The distance education wing of Madurai Kamaraj University
is getting stronger in hospitality segment by launching six
new courses in related fields from July this year.
They include postgraduate degree, postgraduate diploma and diploma
courses.
Good demand
These new courses have been planned in view of good demand for
trained hands and the booming hotel industry, according to S.
Vadivelu, Director of Distance Education, MKU.
Courses being launched formally soon are: M. Sc in Tourism and
Hospitality Management, PG Diploma in Hotel Management, PG Diploma
in Tourism Management, Diploma in Catering Operation, Diploma
in Front Office and Accommodation Management, and a diploma
course in Food and Beverage Service.
According to Dr. Vadivelu, newer and innovative courses are
always in demand and the university is tapping all possible
avenues to attract students both from urban and rural areas.
