Bharathiar University’s MBA programme
for executives
Coimbatore: Bharathiar University will begin two management
courses for executives from the coming academic year.
According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, the programmes
will be for a year and will be offered only to executives.
The “Executive MBA” programme will be held on weekends
and will admit 30 students.
It will be divided into four terms spread over 12 weeks each.
It will include class work, training and evaluation.
Theory
Explaining the theory behind the programme, Mr. Thiruvasagam
said executives with more than three years experience would
have learnt on the job what was covered in the first year MBA
curriculum. “Hence, they can do away with the first year’s
curriculum and directly deal with the specialisation.”
The other “Industry-Integrated MBA” programme will
be conducted for those in a particular industry with special
subjects. The syllabus will be only 25 per cent academic.
“There are as many as 20,000 chief executive officers
required in India. Similarly, four times that many senior level
managers are required. The demand for MBAs from reputed institutions
is on the rise. These two programmes are launched to address
these issues,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
