Dindigul: The coming era would be of e-health as health care
is the mother of all inventions. Future demand for bio-medical
engineers would be 27 per cent whereas total demand for all
other engineering disciplines would be just nine to 11 per cent,
said S. Muttan, Professor from Anna University in his special
address at a national workshop on bio-signal data acquisition
and processing held at P.S.N.A. College of Engineering and
Technology in Dindigul recently. Main aim of the worksh
op was to bridge the gap between understanding of equipment
functioning and usage of computers for data interpretation and
decision, he added.
In his special address, PSG Institute of Medical Science and
Research Department of Bio-Informatics Director Suptendra Natha
Sarbhadigari said that bio-engineering techniques are being
used to process biological system.
While bio-medical engineering deals with biophysics, biotechnology
deals with bio-chemistry. Over 120 participants from industry
and faculty and students from various engineering colleges
took part.
