AU-T to offer MBA course
Anna University-Tiruchirappalli (AU-T) will introduce an MBA
degree programme from 2008-09 at its constituent college Bharathidasan
Institute of Technology .
Focussing on case-based teaching methodology, the two-year full-time
programme will be offered with specialisations in Systems, Human
Resources, Finance and Marketing, under trimester pattern. The
programme has been designed to put students through re al-time
situations and help them evolve patterns from observations.
Regular presentations will be made an essential part of the
programme to make them both knowledgeable individuals and persuasive
speakers, vice-chancellor V. Ramachandran said.
AU-T has created state-of-the-art computing and class-room facilities,
supported by an extensive library of books, journals, and databases.
Management professionals drawn from reputed institutions including
IIM-Bangalore, IISc-Bangalore, Bharathidasan Institute of Management
and two affiliated colleges, and a senior HR executive from
Satyam Computer Systems constitute the Board of Studies .
Placement activities have been vibrant in the university. During
the last six months top-notch companies, including TCS, Infosys,
Wipro, Satyam, L&T, iFlex Solutions, L&T Infotech, Cell
Works, U.S. Technologies and Ameex Technologies, organised common
campus placement drives. Over 5,000 students spread across various
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes participated in these
initiatives, said V. Damodaran, chairman, Department of Management
Studies, and director, Centre for University Industry Collaboration.
Candidates who have passed any recognised bachelor degree of
minimum three years duration (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) in any discipline
and those appearing for the final year / semester examination
are eligible to apply for the MBA programme. The admission is
based on marks obtained in TANCET-2008, followed by group discussion.

Integrated MBA programme
The AU-T will also introduce an Integrated MBA programme from
2008-2009 for the benefit of first-year engineering students
in affiliated colleges, the vice-chancellor said. Students without
any standing arrears in their first year of study are eligible
to pursue the programme that would be offered at the university
campus as well as affiliated colleges that already have an MBA
programme, Dr. Ramachandran said. The engineering students will
acquire the necessary credits for completing the first year
of MBA while pursuing their B.E./ B.Tech. degree. The students
will continue for one more year (second year MBA) after completing
their B.E./B.Tech. degree and obtain an MBA degree as well.
The classes for the integrated programme will be held at the
respective college campuses, in the evenings and holidays.
