English learning must, says VC
Global meet on classical literatures
KARAIKUDI: Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, P.Ramasamy,
has urged the student community to learn English language to
achieve good career growth.
Inaugurating an international conference on Classical Literature,
East and West organised by Department of English and Foreign
Languages here on Wednesday, he said English learning had become
the need of the hour.
Proficiency in English would certainly light up career advancements.
“Classical language of Tamil is very rich and every one
should realise the fact that no language is inferior to any
one.
In modern world, one must know as many languages as possible
to understand one another and appreciate the literatures of
the world,” he said.
K. Chellappan, former Director, State Institute of English,
Chennai explained the importance and closeness of Greek and
Tamil literatures.
