Chennai: The 9th Graduates Day of Thangavelu Engineering College, 11th Graduates Day of Thangavelu College of Science and Management and 3rd Graduates Day of T.J. Institute of Technology was held at the college premises on 24th of march 2008 at 4 pm.

Smt. Jayanthi Thangabalu Chairperson Thangavelu Group of Colleges inaugurated the function by lighting the Kuthuvillaku . She also extended a warm welcome to all present in the occasion.


Thiru. K.V.Thangka Balu, M.P Chairman, Thangavelu Group of Colleges presided the function and delivered his presidential address. In his address he blessed all the graduates who were eagerly waiting to receive the degree. He stated that the state and central governments are spending a huge part of their budget for education and both the governments have a created a lot of opportunities which the youth should utilize. He also stated that nearly all the graduates were placed in several leading organizations and today they earn their livings. He added that they should now remember with gratitude the yeomen support rendered by their parents and should express their gratefulness to their parents.

Thiru. T.R.Baalu Honble minister for Shipping Road transport and Highways Govt of India Delivered his graduates day address and awarded degrees to nearly 560 students of various departments like ECE, EEE, CSE, IT , E&I, MECH, MBA, MCA.

In his address he expressed his concern over the brain drain which is prevailing in our country today. Though the youth have been supported by the government for their studies they have tendency to work in foreign countries whereby leading to loss of nearly 900 crores which is a greatest loss for our nation. He stated that opportunities are available in our nation and they should make use of those opportunities and make India a stronger nation.

Dr.K.Raveendran Principal T.J.Institute of Technology presented the vote of Thanks. The function came to and with national anthem.
