Vice-Chancellor urges students to tolerate
criticism

ERODE: Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Coimbatore, R. Radhakrishnanhas
urged engineering students to tolerate criticisms.
In his convocation day address at the SSM College of
Engineering, Komarapalayam, held recently, the Vice
Chancellor said students should not get upset with criticisms
but tolerate them.
The students could, rather should, consider the criticism if
it had validity, else ignore it. And, the students should use
those criticisms that had validity to correct themselves. Dr.
Radhakrishnan also suggested students to follow rules. “First
follow rules, and later if you find them to be wrong, devise
one, if you can." He also counselled students to find a
good balance between professional and family life. It was the
key to success, he emphasised. As regards the University, he
said it was taking all possible steps to modify the curricula
to meet industry needs and also reflect latest technological
developments. Chairman of SSM group of education institutions
M. S. Mathivanan said the present generation of students had
greater strength, intelligence and skill to compete globally
than any other in the past.
Principal A. Subramanian presented the annual report. Director
of School of Textiles S. Rajagopalan proposed the vote of thanks.
Seetharaman of B. Tech and Manjula of M.Tech in Textile Chemistry
department won gold medals. C. Mohanraj of Mechanical Engineering
department and A. Abinesh of Textile Technology department secured
University ranks.
