BU signs MoU with CareersIndia
Aims at testing competence of students
COIMBATORE: Bharathiar University and CareersIndia Private Limited,
Chennai, a Work Force Assessment Services Company, entered into
a memorandum of understanding here recently.
Scope
The scope of the MoU, which was signed by Vice-Chancellor G.Thiruvasagam
and Chief Executive Officer of the company R. Kannan, would
include testing the competence of students on mutually agreed
principles.
Numerical abilities
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of M. Anandakrishnan,
Chairman, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Technology,
Kanpur, and Madras Institute of Developmental Studies, Chennai.
It will also entail testing in areas like analytical and numerical
abilities, programming and technology oriented knowledge and
skills, English language communication and other industry required
skills useful for entry level placement by the students.
Deputation of assessment experts, human resources managers and
other qualified persons to college campuses will be done for
giving orientation in specific skills and domain knowledge advancement
to improve the placement opportunities of the students through
on /off campus interviews.
Workshops
Supporting workshops, seminars, study visits for students and
faculty, bringing potential employers for the campus recruitment
and conduct of collaborative research, will also be included.
“The company will assess students while they are in their
sixth semester and give a feedback to the university. Depending
on the feedback, the university will offer remedial coaching.
It has already assessed nearly 20,000 students in 80 colleges,”
said M. Jayakumar, Director, Department of Extension and Career
Guidance, Bharathiar University.
