MKU offers M.Sc. in e-Media Communications

The Department of Communication, Madurai Kamaraj University,
is offering a postgraduate course, ‘M.Sc. e-media communications’,
designed to meet the demand for qualified candidates in the
field of communication arts like animation, graphics, sound
engineering, etc.
According to T. Manonmani, Professor and Head of the Department,
the course which was launched two years ago would provide hands-on
training to students and also has good placement prospects in
the media including advertising, film and television.
She said that there is a great demand for e-media professionals
in the field of special effects, gaming, designing, architecture
and related software industries.
Dr. Manonmani said that professionals from leading industries
have been involved in preparing the curriculum and in providing
coaching too. The course content includes drawing and designing,
professional photography, digital art and imaging, film production,
post-production techniques, character animation, interactive
multimedia, multimedia CD, educational content among other topics.
Each semester has an integrated project to give hands-on exposure
to the students, she said.
Eligibility for admission to M.Sc. e-Media Communications course
is that the student should have a degree with a minimum of 50
per cent marks.
