Bharathiar University VC to lead delegation to China
COIMBATORE: Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam
will lead a team of representatives from seven affiliated colleges
to Huaihua University, China, on March 16. The delegation, besides
the Vice-Chancellor, will consist of either the secretary or
principal of the seven colleges.
Higher education
The trip is in pursuance of the memorandum of agreement signed
between both the universities to facilitate Chinese students
to pursue higher education at Bharathiar University, Mr. Thiruvasagam
told a press conference, here recently.
Admitted
As an outcome of the MoA, 12 Chinese students have already been
admitted to the university in the English Department.
Three were pursuing post-graduation, while the rest have been
enrolled for the undergraduate programme. The university had
decided, as a special case, to offer degree courses in English
and Computer Science to at least 100 Chinese students.
The Vice-Chancellor had then mentioned that after a final memorandum
of understanding was signed on his visit to China there would
be more students for the forthcoming batches.
Infrastructure
“Initially it was planned to teach the students in the
university. But, now it has been decided to give the colleges
a few students, since the number will be large.
The colleges that will agree to admit them will have to have
special infrastructure to cater to their needs,” Mr. Thiruvasagam
said.
