Sri Sai Ram Engineering College wins ‘iTalent’ contest
CHENNAI: Sri Sai Ram Engineering College has
won the top honour at CII ‘iTalent’ contest, while
the second and third prizes went to Thiagarajar College of Engineering
and Mepco Schlenk Engineering College in Madurai.
IT Secretary C. Chandramouli and Tata Consultancy Services Chief
Financial Officer S. Mahalingam presented the trophies and cash
prize to the winners at the valedictory session on Saturday.
Mr. Mahalingam urged the young IT graduates to be abreast of
the changing trends of the industry. “Within a short period
of time, software exports from India would double from the present
$ 31 billion to about $ 60-80 billion, while the domestic market
would grow to $ 50 billion. Hence, there is need for trained
people. But what is needed is performance oriented culture.
You have to be in the industry and catch the wave,” he
said. Mr. Chandramouli said talent was a commodity that everyone
was searching for.
