Anna University to introduce two new programmes
SALEM: The Anna University-Chennai will introduce two new programmes
- B.E. Biomedical Engineering and M.Tech Nanotechnology - in
the coming academic year, its Vice-Chancellor D. Viswanathan
said.
The university had entered into a tie-up with medical institutions
for conducting the biomedical engineering programme. It had
received Rs. 4 crore from the government for the new M.Tech
programme, which was supported by the Department of Science
and Technology, Government of India, he told reporters on Thursday.
The Vice-Chancellor said that a mechanism would be devised to
monitor the affiliated colleges, if they conducted placement
programme for students studying third year of undergraduate
courses. The university had asked the college principals to
submit a report about the placement programmes.
The University Grants Commission had suggested the implementation
of grade system in the affiliated colleges. It would be placed
before the academic council, he added.
The university was creating a Knowledge Data Centre, a technology
resource center. The students could access educational resources
including learning materials through the centre.
