TCS honour for Easwari Engineering College
Chennai: Easwari Engineering College, part of SRM Group
of Institutions, has been accredited by Software Major Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) with two of its students honoured
with the TCS Best Student-2007 Awards here today.
At a glittering function held at the college campus, TCS Consulting
Advisor C R Muthukrishnan presented the awards to the parents
of Srinath, now pursuing MS in US and Swarnalatha, employed
with Infosys, in the presence of SRM Group of Institutions Chairman
and SRM University T R Pachamuthu.The awards, instituted by
the TCS, carries Rs 10,000 in cash and a gold medallion.
Later talking to reporters, Mr Pachamuthu said it was a proud
moment for the college for being accredited by the TCS. ''This
accreditation has put the college in the elite level as leading
institutions like Anna University and IIT have also been accredited
by the TCS.'' Of the 268 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu,
74 were accredited by the TCS, of which 16 colleges were selected
by the company for the awards. Easwari Engineering College was
inducted only last year.
Srinath and Swarnalatha, both Computer Science students, were
selected based on their holistic performances as per the guidelines
evolved by the TCS for the awards. Dr Muthukrishnan said the
main aim of the award was to promote the spirit of competition
among the student community, as part of the Academic Interface
Programme of the TCS.
The Best Student Awards would be given to each of the 16 institutions
every year. From 11 colleges, the TCS has added five more last
year with Easwari Engineering College being one of them. - Bureau
