Seminar on global warming organised

Salem: The Indian Institute of Public Administration, Salem Branch, organised a seminar on Global Warming at Vysya College here on Thursday.

Branch Chairperson S. Lakshmi, inaugurating the seminar, highlighted the problems arising due to global warming.

The climate change and melting of glaciers would lead to disastrous consequences. She asked the students to be aware of global warming and its negative impacts.

Tamil Nadu Agriculture University former Vice-Chancellor Sankaran, in his keynote address, said that consequences triggered by global warming included negative impact on the health of mankind, erratic behaviour of rains, reduced forest cover and heavy melting of glaciers.

Co-ordinated efforts were needed among the nations to address the issue of global warming, he added.

He interacted with the participants and answered their queries. Institute Secretary Rajan Devanesan and faculty members of the college were present.
