Varsity to get 10 new departments
Coimbatore: Bharathiar University will soon have ten new
departments -- financial accounting, foreign languages, genetic
engineering, microbial biotechnology, material sciences, non-conventional
energy resources, social work, information technology, computer
applications and software technology -- taking the total number
to 34.
According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, 75 faculty members
will be appointed to these departments.
The university will approve 25 programmes in healthcare management
to be conducted in 14 hospitals.
Diploma, postgraduate diploma, advanced diploma, undergraduate
and postgraduate degrees will be offered.
Twenty seats will be offered in each programme.
The basic theory material will be provided by the university,
which will also award the degree. Practical hands-on experience
will be provided in the hospitals.
The off-campus programmes will begin in September.
