University to open more admission centres
Madurai: The distance education wing of the Madurai Kamaraj
University will open spot admission centres at Karur, Hosur,
Udhagamandalam and Tuticorin.
S. Vadivelu, Director of Distance Education, said on Wednesday
that the Syndicate had given formal approval for opening the
new centres at a meeting held on July 25. The new centres would
be opened in a few days after completing all arrangements and
the admission process would commence immediately, he said.
With the new centres, the tally of MKU’s spot admission
centres in the State would go up to 25, Dr. Vadivelu said. The
Director said that there was good potential for admission in
the four places.
University officials said that the Vice-Chancellor, P. Maruthamuthu,
would visit Malaysia in the third week of this month to assess
the feasibility of opening a distance education study centre
in that country. “We have received proposals from a few
individuals in Malaysia expressing interest to run an MKU centre.
The Vice-Chancellor will first inspect the infrastructure facilities
and submit a report to the Syndicate for final decision,”
authorities said.
