University to offer Master of Physical Education
Tirunelveli: Manonmaniam Sundaranar University will shortly
start postgraduate programme in Physical Education, the Vice-Chancellor,
MSU, Cynthia Pandian, has said.
Speaking at a function held on the university premises on Monday
to mark the inauguration of the new 400 metre athletic track,
established at the cost of Rs.23 lakh, Dr. Cynthia said due
importance would be given and adequate allocation of funds ensured
for strengthening sports infrastructure facilities in the university
as it had been proposed to offer postgraduate programme in Physical
Education (Master of Physical Education) shortly.
The Vice-Chancellor, who had allotted Rs. 75 lakh for the infrastructure
development in the Department of Sports and Physical Education,
also sanctioned Rs. 23 lakh for this athletic track, for which
the work commenced on last June 4.
Following dedication of the new sports arena, Dr. Cynthia also
inaugurated the 3-day 17th inter-collegiate athletic meet at
the new facility.
The Registrar, MSU, P. Chellathurai, heads of various university
departments, physical directors of various colleges and others
participated in the inaugural function.
