Counselling for admission to Government arts and science colleges to begin soon

For science courses on June 18, commerce on June 20 and arts on June 21 in Madurai

Madurai: The general counselling for admission to Government arts and science colleges will be organised between June 18 and 21.

This was decided at the principals' meet held at Meenakshi Government College for Women here on Wednesday.

In Madurai, counselling for science courses would be held on June 18, commerce on June 20 and arts on June 21, said Meenakshi College Principal, Thashreef Jahan.

Though the counselling dates for Government colleges would be the same as mentioned above in the Madurai region, there would be local changes of subjects to help students choose the college of their preference.

During the counselling session, the college would put up a notice board to help students to choose other courses that would usually be their second or third preferences.

"Quota-wise vacancies will be put up during counselling," the Principal said.

Shift system
She also said that the meeting also discussed the shift system to be followed in government arts and science colleges.

Applications with TRB
It resolved to form region-wise boards to scrutinise applications received by Teachers' Recruitment Board, said Prof. Thashreef Jahan.

The Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, S. Udayabaskaran, presided over the meeting. Principals, heads of departments and principals in-charge from 12 colleges in Sivaganaga, Melur, Madurai, Nilakottai, Dindigul, Karaikudi, Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli participated.
