Caveat filed in CET case
New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu Government on Tuesday filed a caveat
in the Supreme Court in the batch of petitions challenging the
abolition of the Common Entrance Test (CET) that were dismissed
by the Madras High Court on April 27.
Counsel for the State V.G. Pragasam filed the caveat application
to ensure that no ex parte orders are passed in the appeals
expected to be filed against the High Court judgment. Filing
of the caveat will enable the court to hear counsel for the
State before deciding to pass any order on the appeals. sThe
High Court had upheld the validity of the law enacted by the
State Government to do away with the CET for admission to professional
courses from the academic year 2007-08.
Admission process
Subsequent to the dismissal of the petitions, Anna University
announced the admission process.
