Appointment orders given
Tirunelveli: The Vice-Chancellor of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University,
Cynthia Pandian, on Friday handed over appointment orders to
36 students, who were recruited by three private sector companies
in the job fair held on the university premises recently.
While the Hindustan Lever Limited recruited 16 students, ‘Mega
Foods’ and ‘India Infoline’ selected 10 candidates
each in the job fair organised by Chennai-based Techruit. Successful
candidates will get salary ranging from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 8,000.
Dr. Cynthia said that though 690 students appeared for the recruitment
process, only 36 came out successful, mainly because of lack
of communication skill, particularly in English. To cultivate
and strengthen the students’ skill of communicating in
English and develop their personality, the Director of Department
of Youth Welfare, MSU, X. Rosary Mary, attended a training programme,
conducted by ELCOT.
“Based on this training, Dr. Rosary Mary will train 30
teachers from the affiliated colleges in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin
and Kanyakumari districts and these well-trained teachers will
shape their students so that they can clear the hurdles quite
comfortably. Precisely, we intend to fortify the ‘employable
qualities’ and soft skills of our students,” Dr.
Cynthia noted.
She appealed to the students to be a ‘team player’
so as to ensure intra-personnel relationship and ultimately
to increase the success rate of the mission every time.
Dr. Cynthia also said that more students would be recruited
in the next phase to be held in near future.
