Panel planning to cancel entrance test

Chennai: The Justice S.S. Subramani committee is considering cancellation of the entrance test conducted last month by private medical colleges for admitting students to the management quota seats in three colleges in the State.

This is because the Tamil Nadu Private Medical Colleges Association has not published the students' merit list for admission till now, committee chairman Justice S.S. Subramani told presspersons here on Saturday.

He said the committee had asked the association to publish the results and the rank list within 10 days after the examination. The results had been published, but no rank list had been received by the committee so far. According to his information, admission to the 20 per cent management quota seats was being done without the merit list.

The association told him that the results would be published on August 17, and admission would begin August 21. On August 18, the committee received a letter from the association stating that the Government had not completed its admission process, so the management quota seat admissions would be done only after August 28.

He said there was no reply to queries about the rank list. So he issued a notice to the association on Friday seeking submission of the rank list. The committee had not received any reply, he said.
