Anandakrishnan panel report soon

Chennai: The Prof. M. Anandakrishnan committee that was constituted to suggest ways to the Government to do away with the entrance examination system for professional courses is likely to submit its report this week.

The committee was asked to suggest alternative methods for making admissions. The entrance examinations were considered tough both financially and academically for rural students in the State, especially those who had little access to costly coaching centres.

The committee that included administrators and academicians held three founds of public discussions in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai to elicit views from different stake-holders especially parents, students and teachers.

Prof. Anandakrishnan said the report was ready and he had sought a suitable time from the Chief Minister for submitting it. — Special Correspondent
