Plus Two topper secures first rank in medical entrance examination
Chennai: Sandhya Suresh, topper in the Plus Two examinations from D.A.V. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gopalapuram, secured the first rank in the medical entrance list released by the Directorate of Medical Education on Wednesday.
Sandhya, who secured a total of 299.25, has been declared the topper, with V.C. Kalyanasundarabharathi of Mamallan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kancheepuram with a total of 298.99.
J. Lydia from Rosemary Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai and V. Bharatram of Prince Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai, shared the third rank with an aggregate of 298.58.
8,067 applications received
The DME received 8,067 applications, of which 7,012 were eligible to take the test, according to Directorate sources.
Girl students formed the bulk of those who took the test at 61.70 per cent of the total.
1,545 seats
Counselling is scheduled to begin in the first week of July for admission to the 1,545 MBBS seats in government medical colleges.
