The Sourashtra College
affiliated to Madurai Kamarajar University
is managed by the Sourashtra College Council, a Philanthropic Association
dedicated to higher learning. The College was started in June 1967.
Impelled by an urge to impart education at all levels in Arts, Science
and Commerce, Computer, Professional, Technical and other job oriented
courses to the students of all caste and creeds and Linguistic Sourashtra
Minority students etc. and to provide facilities for specialised studies
in technology and research and to promote Indian tradition and culture
and inspired by a "Strong benevolence of soul", the members
of the Sourashtra college Council have raised the magnificent building
s of the college on the slope of the Pasumalai Hill. The splendid
location of the college affords a panoramic view of the temple of
Lord Muruga at Tirupparakundram and provides an excellent atmosphere
conducive to clam pursuit of knowledge and development of strong character.
The Sourashtra College is a co-educational Linguistic Minority Institution. In Keeping
with the traditions of Tamilnadu, regulations for dress and conduct
have been prescribed, strict compliance of which will be insisted
upon.

Science Labs: The Departments of
Bio- Chemistry and Micro - Biology have well established
and well equipped laboratories with latest and sophisticated
instruments and scientific apparatus etc., with a serene
atmosphere for lab and research work. Computer Facilities
are also available.
The Departmental libraries have a large number of standard text books, journals of
national as well as international and also the periodicals.
Computer Labs: As for the Computer courses, well equipped air-conditioned
computer laboratory with adequate no. of systems of Pentium with latest
configurations and colour monitors is kept at the disposal of both
the students and the staff. Multimedia systems with Internet connectivity,
Varieties of Printers like Dot matrix printer, inkjet and laser are
available. Licensed Softwares of latest languages are used to maximise
the performance of the students.
Transport:
The College provides transport facility to students through its own
buses only. The students are expected to avail themselves of the services
and they will not be permitted to go out of campus expect on permission
of the Principal during working hours.
Library:
The College has a decent rest room for girls. The students are expected
to be in the Library, if they do not have class for any period. They
should always keep with them their identity card, without which no
student will be allowed into the College premises.

The students are regularly placed in various hotels and resorts for their
industrial Training in their second and third year. The training partners
of our college include popular chain of hotels like Oberoi, Welcomgroup,
Leela kempenski, Tajgroup, Holiday Inn and other star hotels located
all over India and abroad. The students get trained in these hotels
and get practical knowledge work.
The Department arrange campus interviews for the final years students. This interview
is providing an opportunity for employment. The department has separate
section called "Placement Cell " to handle the Campus Interview
Process.
